So, in last week’s Person of Interest we enjoyed a little social networking and all round geek-ness, this week it would seem that we were back to our usual turn with “Booked Solid”, a good episode with plenty of twists and turns with one final revealing moment which left us all wanting more. Reese was back to doing what he does best this week, kicking ass is his thing and boy did he get some action in during this episode. “Booked Solid” also welcomed back one of our other favourite characters, Zoe Morgan who we first met back in season 1’s “The Fix”, however she also starred in one of my favourites of this season “The High Road”, so from the moment I saw her on screen I had high hopes and it seems they were justified because I wasn’t disappointed at all.
What I really liked about this episode was the competition on offer for Reese, let’s face it he’s normally way to clever for the people they normally pit against him, however this week it was a group of trained assassins who, ok didn’t quite come up to scratch but at least they carried some sort of menacing threat towards the weekly POI (don’t remember her name). Although Reese was working in an environment he’s not familiar with, he was very aware of the situation and the tactics on offer from the “hit squad”. As good as this story was I do feel they spoiled it a little towards the end, almost cheesing it up if you like when Finch bought the hotel off the corrupt manager and made Mira (Oh, that’s her name) the new manager, why? Pretty much like
last week I felt that was rather unnecessary. Russia
It was also nice to see a real threat back in the menacing government hitman who Reese first met a few episodes back in Rikers prison. Am I the only one who thinks this? But who does this guy actually work for? I seriously have no idea who the guy on the end of the phone is. It seems that this guy only has a vendetta against Reese and maybe only his boss knows about the existence of The Machine. Why didn’t Reese kill him though? After all, the guy managed to get to the hospital and yeah he’s been called back to
for what Spartacus would call “more pressing concern” I’ve no doubt he will be back for another shot at Mr Reese. That probably won’t go in his favour though, as did this week because let’s remember here when he beat up on Reese in Rikers, Reese was purposefully not fighting back in order that the FBI didn’t make him as the man in the suit. Washington
It seems that this is one part of the story line which is going to become more prominent towards the end of this second season as there little office chat was met by one big surprise at the end of this episode. That surprise might just be the one season 2 needs as it was the reveal that Root (Amy Acker) has worked her way into whatever government department these guys work for, now as you know for me season 2 has not been as good since she disappeared from our screens in “Bad Code”, she clearly has another master plan at work to get back at Finch here. Of course little does the guy know that Root actually knows more about the man in the suit, Finch and The Machine than he does. Was it that big of a surprise though? Once I heard the voice of the female assistant I knew it had to be Root, we didn’t need to wait and see her face.
I really enjoyed “Booked Solid” it was solid in pretty much every aspect right from the weekly procedural through to the big reveal in the end. At least we know that Carter won’t be going off and joining the FBI any time soon, that’s good, but I think Reese’s time may be taken up with Zoe. Even Fusco got in on the action this week, convincingly too, as he kicked the asses of those hitmen. All in all I think this was a pretty good effort and I’m really looking forward to seeing where the story takes us from here.
